Lookbook: Faux Fur Stole

Happy Thursday my loves! One more day till the weekend! 🙂 Since I’ve been blogging full-time, I must say that I am not only happier but no two days have been the same! Some weeks I’ve been extremely busy, running between meetings, lunch meetings, fittings and castings. Other weeks, I’ve been able to unwind a little and think about my next few outfit posts. It has really been an amazing journey so far and I’m thoroughly enjoying it. I’m currently working on a new project and hopefully I will be able to reveal it very soon! The one thing I’ve learnt in the last 6 months is that hard work pays off, it may not pay off immediately but it definitely does in the long run which is why I’ve also grown some patience in the last couple months. Great things take time. 🙂

For those who follow me on social media, you’ll know about my interview with Arye Kellman on CliffCentral yesterday at 3pm where we spoke about my upbringing and also about my blog. Thank you for those who tuned in for support, I really appreciate it because without you, there will be no me today. For those who were unable to tune in, CLICK HERE to catch up. It was my very first interview on radio so I was obviously very nervous and my heart was thudding throughout the entire interview! I’m generally my own biggest critic but I believe that every experience is a learning curve so I’m very privileged to have had this kind of experience. Let me know what you think and what I can improve on? I’m quite open to ideas. 🙂

Today I’ll be posting my final #FiestaOOTD in collaboration with Ford South Africa. Since we are right in the middle of winter, I figured that the feature of a faux fur stole is nothing but appropriate. With the unpredictable Joburg Winter where the temperature can vary from freezing to Summer heat all in one day, I think it’s essential to keep one item with you that will help you survive the freezing cold but you can also shed it very quickly when the temperature rises. With all the rage over faux fur right now, I think a faux fur stole is a wardrobe staple.

Sharon and Kelly for MAC Cosmetics

Hi everyone! Hope everyone is having a superb week so far. I have some good news for makeup lovers, Sharon and Kelly Osbourne have once once again collaborated with MAC Cosmetics for another fabulous, limited edition, makeup collection! Personally, I’m fascinated with the Patentpolish Lip pencils in Sharon’s collection so I’ll be checking it out at MAC when it hits stores on 7 August 2014. You guys know how crazy I am about my blushes so I’ll definitely be picking up the blush from the Kelly collection. Remember how crazy I was about the Hey Sailor collection 2 years back and I bought a backup of the blush in Sail Away? I’ve pretty much finished the one already so I need to start looking for a replacement. If you follow me on social media, you might know how obsessed I am with the Mac Patentpolish Lip Pencils and there seem to be a range of colours available in the Sharon collection, which I totally cannot wait to try out! For those who aren’t familiar with the Patentpolish Lip Pencils, it’s basically a jump lip tint, I say lip tint because it is not supposed to be as pigmented as lipsticks but it’s more of a water colour, which I personally love because you can get really creative with them. It’s also perfect for the ombre lips (like shown below from one of my instagram pics). They also have a superb shine to it but not sticky like gloss. Overall, they’re just great versatile products to have in your hand bag. So start saving and do some serious arm workouts to prepare yourself for some serious shopping 🙂 Products and prices below.

In the pic I’m wearing Berry Bold, it looks more pink but it’s actually a stunning everyday red (which isn’t really bold) but buildable.

Beauty: The Face Mask Queen

Hi Everyone! Hope you’re having a great week so far! :)If you follow me on any social network platforms (i.e. Twitter and Instagram), I often speak about using face masks or my “face mask night”. Face masks are an essential to my beauty routine, it makes my skin smooth, supple and soft! I started using face masks just over 3 years ago and I really feel as if it’s a staple and I can’t live without it. I’m sure many of you have experimented with face masks or mud masks in the past. However, I’m not speaking mud masks or anything that’s held in a “tub” which you have to smear on your face and wash off after some time. I’m talking about face masks the Asian way where there’s a thin sheet covered with all the good gooey stuff in a thin packet. Each packet is one application and you leave the thin sheet on your face for about 15-20min and no rinsing off is necessary.

These types of face masks are super popular in Asia because they’re easy to use, no mess and no rinsing off after. You simply remove the sheet and massage the product into your skin and voila! I normally do them at night before I sleep because it takes slightly longer for the product to completely absorb and if you’re looking to apply makeup and go somewhere, it may still leave a sticky residue.

The purpose of face masks is to give your skin the nurtrient boost it needs every once in a while. Just like hair masks, they’re usually thicker than conditioner and packed with nutrients for your hair. Your hair will come out softer and shinier after a hair mask and equally your skin will be smoother and softer after a face mask. I received some face masks to try from Skin Republic and Cettua, which I a sure many of you have seen available locally. I’ve included some photos but I will do a full review a bit later after I’ve tried and tested all of the ones I have. 🙂

A good face mask will always cater for people with sensitive skin. If you have dry and sensitive skin like I do, it shouldn’t sting or hurt when the product touches your face. I used to use the Vitamin E Face Mask by The Body Shop back in the day and although it’s for dry and sensitive skin, it would sting everytime I applied it to my dry areas, such as my nose and around my mouth. It was terrible! Although it did relieve me from dry skin temporarily, I did not ever go back to it!

I’ve been rather experimental with face masks but I stick to the same type, which are the sheet masks. There are plenty different brands to choose from in Asia and the goods ones are generally Korean. A good face mask will give your face that boost which leaves your skin smooth and radiant. I’ve often given my face masks to others to try around me and I’ve always gotten back the same response: “I felt that my skin was more radiant in the morning!”

I got the Faith in Face masks for Xmas last year from E’s sister. Totally in love with them! If you haven’t already started using face masks or it isn’t part of your routine yet, you should definitely give it a try! Look out for my reviews later of the sheet masks from Skin Republic and Cettua, which are currently the only brands available here in South Africa that I know of anyways. Thank you for reading!
