Urban Decay Naked 3 Giveaway Winner

Hi everyone! As promised, the winner for the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette Giveaway is announced today! 🙂 Before I announce the winner, if you follow me on Snapchat, you probably know my method of picking someone, for those who don’t have my on Snapchat (add me! @lovemarylu) I pick a winner the old fashioned way. I write everyone’s name on a piece of paper, throw it all in a bag, shake it around rigorously and pick one! I think this is the best and most fair way to pick a winner, I’m not too into those random draw apps or programmes because you never know how those apps are programmed.

The winner for this for Urban Decay Naked 3 Eyeshadow Palette is…

Please send me an email to mary@lovemarylu.com to claim your prize! You have till Friday, 26 May 2015 to email me 🙂

For those who didn’t win this time, I promise you that this won’t be the last time I’ll be having a giveaway, I know there was a huge gap between this one and the last one but I’ll be doing more of these in the future.

Thank you to those who take the time to enter and comment on the post, your feedback is always appreciated. Don’t think you go unnoticed, trust me I know who has been there from the start and I love each and every single one of you for all the support you’ve given me over the years!

Hope you all have a great week!

Clarisonic Mia 2 Review

Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend! Thank you to everyone who entered my Urban Decay Naked 3 Eyeshadow Palette Giveaway! If you haven’t already entered, I’m sorry, the giveaway is closed and the winner will be announced on Wednesday this week! 🙂

Today I’m doing a much anticipated review of a product or an item that is much raved about all over social media and by many beauty gurus – The Clarisonic. I was supposed to do this review last year already because I got mine in New York when I went in October last year but I keep putting it off and now I’m finally convinced that it isn’t my diet, my water-drinking, my exercise nor my my skin care routine that has really improved the appearance of my skin, but it’s the Clarisonic. For those who don’t use the Clarisonic, you may think you’re not really missing out on much, after all there are tons of other products out there that does similar things, keyword is similar… The first couple of times I used the Clarisonic, it wasn’t a magical moment for me, of course I felt like it really did the job with washing my face and my face felt really clean but it didn’t suddenly become my holy grail product. In fact, I would forget about using the Clarisonic every now and again but I told myself that I should use it daily because that’s the only way I’ll be able to tell if it really made a difference on my skin.

The first time I noticed a difference was when I went to Durban to visit my parents for about a week and I didn’t take my Clarisonic with me. It wasn’t a train smash but the whole week, I kept thinking to myself about how I can’t wait to get back to my own home so I can wash my face with the Clarisonic again. After washing my face normally without a Clarisonic, I had a few break-outs, which wasn’t anything major because everyone gets pimples right? Still, I wasn’t entirely convinced that it was the Clarisonic.

The second time I felt a real difference was when I went to London. Again, I didn’t take my Clarisonic with me but if you’ve been to London then you know what I mean when I say it’s not exactly the cleanest cities in the world especially when you catch the underground on a daily basis. I have no doubt that my break-outs were as a result of clogged pores from the general dirt in the city and I didn’t have my Clarisonic there to deep clean my skin. I guess what I’m trying to say is, if you don’t use it then sure it makes no difference in your life (so you think) but once you do, you can’t stop and it will become a holy grail product. Now I take my Clarisonic with me everywhere. I recently bought new heads when I was in Hong Kong, one box comes with 2 heads and I decided to try the super soft brushes for radiant skin, it’s very gentle and unclogs your pores with its fine bristles.

My Clarisonic came with it’s own casing and a charger. The best thing about the Clarisonic is that it is waterproof, completely, so that you may use it in the shower and the bath. Plus I’ve dropped mine probably 100 times and I’m surprised that it still actually works! 🙂 A fully charged Clarisonic can last me about 2 weeks (or more) so the battery life is pretty great. The charger is actually magnetic so it clips onto the Clarisonic and it charges from there, no plug-ins required.

Now that I’m a Clarisonic enthusiast, I’m pretty excited to try some other head fittings and buy myself the body one for all-over body. There is a head fitting for all skin types and the different results you want to achieve with your Clarisonic. Unfortunately, it’s still not available in South Africa as yet but I did hear that it’s slowly making its way here. When it does, I’ll be keeping you posted!

Hong Kong Beauty Haul 2015

Hi loves! It’s almost the weekend! Yay! 🙂 Many of you have been asking me for a haul for all the beauty products I bought in Hong Kong, if you’ve missed my previous post Korean Beauty Haul 2015 – click hereI didn’t go to Korea but I decided to separate my beauty haul into 2 parts, mainly because it’s just too many things in one post and also I wanted to separate the Korean brands and the others. As promised, here is the rest of the beauty products I bought in Hong Kong, I decided to leave out the face masks because there’s just too many products, but if you’re interested in seeing me use all the products I bought, I’ll be uploading them on Snapchat so follow me – @lovemarylu 🙂

I’m not sure if you’re fans of Maybelline products but I bought so many Maybelline products at the Maybelline store in Hong Kong! If you don’t know, Maybelline products vary between countries so some things that you get in Hong Kong are very different to what you can get here. I also feel that Maybelline products sold in Hong Kong and China are more suitable for my skin (or Asian skin) so although I don’t generally buy Maybelline products here in SA, I like to try their products when I go overseas. This is the Maybelline Pure Mineral CC Cream, I did take a swatch when I was at the store, it basically comes out white and adapts to your skin colour. I’ll let you all know how I like it when I start using it. I’m really trying to finish my BB creams before I open up a new one.

I absolutely loves this Maybelline Babyskin Instant Pink Transformer, you can use this product alone or under a BB cream or foundation. It’s a light lotion with pink pigments, which is perfect to illuminate your face without it looking oily. It may look pretty similar to the Etude House Face Blur from my previous post but the texture is very different. This is much light compared to the Face Blur and plus the Face Blur is more of a primer and doesn’t have light reflecting pigments.

Many of you already know about this product, it’s the Maybelline Babyskin Pore Eraser, I personally love this product! I always buy a few tubes when I go to Hong Kong because I know that you can’t get them here in South Africa. Again, you can use this product either on it’s own or under a BB cream or a foundation, it basically minimise the look of your pores or skin in general. It can feel oily as it has a silicone texture to it but I think it works pretty great!

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that eyeliner is my life (sorry not sorry). I’m obsessed with the Maybelline Hyper Sharp Laser Precision Eyeliner (the one of the right) and I always purchase about 3 or 4 every time I go to Hong Kong, just to make sure it lasts me about a year. I love that it’s super dark and pigmented, he’s a brush tip, which makes drawing the line so much easier and more precise. The Maybelline Hyper Sharp Wing (the one on the left) recently came out in Hong Kong, the applicator is also a brush but it is slanted to allow you to draw thicker line.

I haven’t used any other makeup remover besides the Neutrogena Deep Clean Cleasing Oil for about 3 years now. I got the Maybelline Clean Express Miracle Water as a free gift with my many purchases at Maybelline. I’m pretty excited to try it!

This and a few others are my favourite mascaras of all time! There’s a drugstore/beauty store all over Hong Kong called Sasa and they have their own line of cosmetics with cute packaging called Sasatinnie, this is by far one of the best mascaras I’ve ever used. I always go back for more! AND it’s made in Italy 🙂

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I LOVE my eyelashes, I love falsies and the different effects it has on your eye makeup. I always like to purchase my lash glue from Hong Kong because they sell many great Korean and Japanese brands. What’s great about these lash glues, besides their lasting power is that the applicator is a small brush ensuring a no-mess application.

I was supposed to insert this into my previous post but I totally forgot that I bought this! It’s a refill for my Etude House Anycushion Precious Mineral, it’s basically a BB cream but in a tub form and it’s refillable. You apply it with the gift sponge that it comes with (mine is a little dirty) but they also sell those in Etude House too.

Again, I totally forgot that I bought this! It’s the Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream, the colour matched me perfectly before I went to the Philippines but since I went 3 shades darker from tanning, this is currently a little too light for me so I’ll just be putting this away for a while until winter 🙂

I hope you enjoyed this post! Remember, if you have snapchat, follow me 🙂 Have a great weekend!
