Preparing for Winter with Louis Vuitton Favorite

As Winter draws closer to us, it’s time to pull out all the sweaters, cardis and cute winter gear. I’m actually pretty excited about Winter this year because I did some shopping while I was in Hong Kong and Taiwan in December/ January while it was winter there. As you can see, I love these leather leggings/pants I got from Zara in Taiwan, they’re not only super comfy but you can dress it up or down. If you follow me on instagram or twitter, you’ll remember that E got me another LV for my birthday this year so I decided to debut my new sling bag in this lookbook post. It’s the Favorite PM, it comes with a gold chain for the evenings and a leather sling for the day time. I’ve been wanting another sling bag for some time now and I love the little detail on the flap. Hope you like it too šŸ™‚

Skin Republic Sheet Masks

Hi everyone! I know I only posted once last week, it’s because I got super sick after Monday so last week was pretty much of a write off for me, I’ve been meaning to post about the Skin Republic Sheet Masks for some time now but I wanted to make sure I tried them all first and in between try some of the other masks I had so I make a proper comparison. Considering that they are probably the first range of sheet masks we have available here in South Africa, it’s big deal. Not only because I often talk about sheet masks that I got from my overseas trips and they’re not accessible here in SA but also it’s a breakthrough in terms of introducing sheet masks into the beauty culture.

What is Skin Republic?

Skin Republic basically offers a range of dermatologically tested skin care products and they specialise in sheet masks for the face, under eyes, neck and feet (yes! There are sheet masks for your feet!). The sheet masks are made in Korea, which is a big deal for me because all the masks I love are Korean face masks! šŸ™‚ They have 13 products in their range in total, I haven’t tried all 13 but I have tried 4 of their face masks, which you can read about further in my review. You can purchase these masks from Edgars, Red Square, Dischem and Clicks stores and the prices vary depending on the mask itself but the starting price is R35.

What are sheet masks?

If you haven’t seen me rave about them already, sheet masks are basically cotton or fibre sheets which have been pre-cut so to leave a gap for eyes, nose and mouth etc. It has been pre-cut so as to fit the contour of your face to make sure the product reaches all areas and also for sake of convenience as you can just remove the sheet when the time is up and massage the rest of the product remaining into your skin. As many of you know what a pain it is to use “smear on” face masks where you have to wash off afterwards and it takes a huge chunk your time applying it.

How do you use them?

In order to get the best use out of these masks, I usually apply it just before I go to bed, after my shower and after I have toned my face. I don’t recommend applying moisturiser before you use the masks because the masks itself are very moisturising so for that night I usually use it as a replacement for my moisturiser. I then leave the mask on for 15-20min. After I remove the sheet, I massage the residue product into my face with my middle and ring finger, then I leave my face to “air dry” and wait for the product to fully absorb into my skin. For people who use it for the first time, if you’re not used to the feeling of having sticky residue on your face, you’re going to have such an urge to rinse it with water but DO NOT RINSE because leaving the formula to absorb into your skin overnight really makes the masks more effective.

My thoughts on Skin Republic Sheet Masks?

I love them! The packaging is convenient and the product smells great. The biggest thing for me is the product that the sheet mask is soaked in itself, and I personally like a more thick and gooey formula because I have dry skin. I tried 4 different face masks from their range, which are the Brightening Vitamin C Face Mask, Stem Cell Plant Protein Face Mask, Epidermal Growth Factor + Collagen Face Mask and the CoQ10 + Caviar Face Mask. You can click on the links to find more information from their website on the masks I tried. My 2 favourites are definitely the Vitamin C and the Caviar Face Masks. The formulae in all the ones I tried are very consistent, some may be slightly thicker than others but overall they’re very consistent. They all smell very good, very subtle, refreshing scent. My skin felt more supple, smooth and soft the following day. These masks are very comparable to the Korean masks I bought in Hong Kong, the formulae, the effect and even the sheets themselves, which is amazing that we can get them here locally in South Africa now. I really cannot rave enough about these masks because as I have mentioned previously in my post dedicated to face masks (HERE), it is an essential to my beauty routine, it’s my holy grail and I really recommend using sheet masks to everyone. These masks are super hydrating, especially if you have dry skin but if used long enough, it helps with fine lines and gives your skin a youthful glow.
